The Project:

Client:

The Consortium for Integrative Cardiovascular Disease Research (CICDR) is a proposed research collaborative to be based at Saint Louis University. Their mission is to combine research in biology, biochemistry, and clinical cardiovascular medicine to investigate responses to oxygen deprivation across the animal kingdom. They want to develop comparative approaches to the study and treatment of strokes and heart attacks.

Goals:

This website was created as a proof of concept, to show potential funders and collaborators what the CICDR is capable of. It is, essentially, a grant proposal in visual form. Our goal with the website was to present the consortium as a professional, productive, and valuable member of the Saint Louis University research community, with the hopes of attracting financing and support for their work.

our approach

We wanted a bold look that matched the brand standards of Saint Louis University—the proposed host for the Consortium—while still offering a memorable online experience. We emphasized the most iconic color of the Saint Louis University palette, SLU blue, as well as a blood red to emphasize the connection with cardiovascular medicine. We kept the look professional, productive, and academic, with full-page banners, thick lineal icons, and high-contrast color arrangements.

the brand

professional, productive, academic.

The audience for this website is not the general public but instead the administrators at Saint Louis University, who review the CICDR’s grant proposals. Thus, we designed the brand to be professional, productive, and decidedly academic. Our goal was to present the best possible version of the CICDR, with the hopes of courting funders, collaborators, and broad support from the university.
